At Nicole Norris MD Medical Spa in Peru, IL, we are passionate about helping our clients feel as confident as possible in their appearance. Among the FDA-approved cosmetic treatments we offer is Juvederm Volbella, a versatile dermal filler that can be used to address a number of concerns. It’s one of our most popular treatments, and today, we’d like to highlight some of the things that make it so special. Read on to learn what this filler can do and much more.

What Is Volbella Used for?

Juvederm Volbella is primarily used to augment the lips. Sometimes, it is used to correct mild asymmetry. That said, it can also be used to reverse the visible effects of moderate or severe volume loss in the lips. This injectable dermal filler can also be used to smooth away perioral lines. These lines are usually a visible side effect of the natural aging process. However, young people can experience perioral lines for other reasons.

For example, your skin will age prematurely if you are a smoker. Secondhand smoke exposure can also result in premature skin aging. Another common cause of premature skin aging is UV damage. Most of the time, UV damage comes from too much time spent in the sun without adequate sunscreen. However, using tanning beds or tanning lamps can also result in enough UV exposure to age the skin prematurely.

How Long Can I Expect My Results to Last?

You can generally expect your results to last for six to 12 months. The longevity of your results depends on several factors, including your diet, lifestyle choices, and skincare routine. You should try to eat anti-inflammatory foods, plenty of protein, and your RDA of vitamin C every day if you want to help your results last longer. It is also very important that you get enough water in your diet. Every day, you should drink at least 48 ounces of water or tea.

It’s a good idea to get at least 30 minutes of cardio most days to support your cardiovascular system. Your cardiovascular system is responsible for delivering all of the nutrients you eat throughout your body. It also delivers growth factors, oxygen, and other things your skin needs to keep itself healthy and young. Additionally, you should minimize sun exposure and consume no more than a moderate amount of alcohol.

What Can I Expect During Treatment?

You can expect your treatment session to be quick and painless. Often, treatments are completed in roughly 20 minutes. However, your session may take closer to an hour if you combine this anti-aging treatment with others. For instance, your treatment session may take around 40 minutes if you need both Volbella and Ultra or Ultra Plus injections.

The reason that you can feel confident in the comfort of this treatment is the presence of lidocaine in the formula. Lidocaine is a gentle, effective anesthetic that will numb the treatment area in roughly 15 seconds. Before your injections are administered, the treatment area or areas will be inspected for irritation. Then, they will be sanitized. After that, we will use a tiny needle to administer portions of the ideal dose into different strategic points.

What Can I Expect After Treatment?

After your injections are administered, you are free to return to work.

Am I a Good Candidate for This Treatment?

The FDA has approved Volbella injections for most adults who are over the age of 21 and worried about the appearance of their lips and mouth. To verify that you are free from contraindications and this treatment is right for you, an appointment with a dermatologist is necessary. During your consultation, we will also review your concerns and goals to ensure that this Juvederm formula will be most effective for you.

Depending on your cosmetic concerns, you may need several formulas to achieve your desired results. For instance, if you’re worried about the appearance of your lips, mouth, and cheeks, you will need Volbella and Voluma injections. Juvederm Voluma is a more robust hyaluronic acid-based formula that lasts longer than Juvederm’s lip filler. Among the concerns you can treat with Voluma are:

Am I a Good Candidate for Juvederm Voluma Injections?

If you are at least 22 years old and concerned about the appearance of your cheeks, under-eye region, or jawline, you may be considered a good candidate for this treatment. You also may qualify if you want to redefine your cheekbones. Some of the most common contraindications for this treatment include pregnancy, nursing, and bleeding disorders. You also will not qualify if your skin is irritated at the time of your treatment.
