Versa TM, made by the cosmetic company Prollenium, is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has been used in Canada and Europe for many years and was FDA-approved in the United States in April 2018. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that is found within the body and when it is synthetically manufactured it is called filler. Prollenium’s Versa TM is touted as the safest filler available with the most natural appearing cosmetic results. Most cosmetic physicians use it in the lower face to smooth lines, shape lips, and lift the skin. “Versa TM has quickly become my favorite dermal filler for filling lines in the lower face, lip enhancement and pushing up the corners of the mouth when they are sagging down. It is very versatile in the lower face. Versa TM is what is considered a soft filler, which means it gives natural-appearing and natural-feeling results. Some fillers become hard when they are injected and are palpable until they go away. This one does the job, but you don’t even know its there! Another huge perk for my patients is that is causes the least amount of post-procedure swelling of any filler available in the US. Typically, injections around the mouth with other fillers cause significant swelling for one to two weeks, but with Versa TM there is mild swelling which seems to go away in just 2-3 days. This means less “down-time” for my patients which makes them even happier! Versa TM also has great safety studies. One of the rare adverse reactions of dermal filler is development of an inflammatory nodule (granuloma reaction) in the area where the filler is injected that must be surgically removed to correct it. This granuloma reaction has never occurred with Versa TM.
