Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable collagen biostimulator that works deep in the skin to improve its inner structure. Sculptra attracts mesenchymal stem cells to the areas where it is injected which can then differentiate into stem cells to replace collagen, facial fat pads and even replace bony loss. We like to explain it like fertilizer for collagen production. It is not a filler and always gives a natural result.
What are the Benefits?
Sculptra creates Type 1 collagen which has been shown to last 5-10 years depending on each patients’ habits like smoking and sun exposure. Am I a Good Candidate?
If you are aging and bothered by the appearance of falling cheeks, jowls, and overall loss of a youthful appearance, you are a good candidate. If you are allergic to suture material you are not a good candidate for Sculptra due to the PLLA material. Patients who have autoimmune disorders or who are ill are not good candidates as their bodies will likely not produce the collagen expected.
