If you lack eyebrows or wish you had fuller, more natural-looking brows, then eyebrow microblading could be the right solution for you. This treatment is not like an eyebrow tattoo; in fact, it’s an entirely different process that allows for natural, hair-like brushstrokes that look authentic. If you’re interested in this cosmetic treatment, contact us today here at Nicole Norris MD Medical Spa in Peru, IL, and schedule your initial consultation.

How Long Does a Microblading Session Take?

If you’re curious about the microblading process, it’s actually quite simple and doesn’t take that long. However, you must attend two treatment sessions to get the full results: the first session and a second session, about four to eight weeks apart. The first session takes about two to three hours, most of which is spent choosing the right color and then carefully shaping and drawing your brows, so they look as symmetrical as possible.

However, the second session will take less time. This should take about one and a half to two hours and is only a touch-up. Since everybody heals differently, the second appointment is critical, so we can see how well you’re healing and how your skin is retaining the pigment we use. We can also use the second appointment to make any changes you want, like adding more brushstrokes or touching up the edges to ensure the final shape is symmetrical and natural-looking.

The Treatment Process

This process is very simple and straightforward. Technically, it’s a semi-permanent pigment tattoo that’s performed with a hand-held tool. It’s different from eyebrow tattooing because the pigment is applied very close to the surface instead of deep in the skin. This innovative technology allows it to create a very natural-looking color and feather-light stroke that closely matches the look of individual brow hairs.

One of the reasons why this treatment is so popular is because it’s a much softer and more understated look, particularly compared to traditional eyebrow tattooing. Also, this process doesn’t use any type of ink. It uses pigments, which are slightly different. In fact, pigments are specifically designed to fade gradually over time, so it looks more natural. It also allows our brow artists to make subtle changes that enhance the natural beauty in your face.

Is This Treatment Safe?

This treatment is 100% safe, which is why it’s such a popular choice for our patients. Here at Nicole Norris MD Medical Spa, we genuinely care about our clients and do everything we can to ensure their comfort. Before the process, we apply a topical anesthetic, so the treatment is virtually painless. So, you won’t have to worry, because we’ll take good care of you and you’ll be in expert hands.

How Long Do the Results Last?

The microblading treatment is semi-permanent and lasts about one or two years, depending on how you care for your results. After the first two sessions, it’s essential that you receive yearly touch-up sessions to maintain your results. As with any cosmetic treatment, the results also vary from person to person.

For instance, if you have extra-dry skin, you might not experience the same color fading as somebody with very oily skin. It also depends on the amount of sun exposure and the level of skin care that you maintain post-treatment.

The Recovery Process

After your first treatment session, you can expect a mild recovery process that should show results right away. Most of our patients walk right out after their first session and get right back to their lives. However, the color will begin to fade a bit after the first week, where it will look darker and look more natural and subtle as time goes on.

About seven to ten days after your first treatment, the exfoliation process takes place. This means that the top layer of your skin will gently flake and peel, which leaves a much lighter, softer-looking skin underneath. You also might feel a slight itching as healing takes place.

Immediate Post-Treatment Recovery

The time right after your session is extremely important. One of the most important steps is to apply a special ointment every two to three hours to ensure that the treatment area doesn’t dry out. You shouldn’t put any type of creams, lotions, makeup, or skincare products on your face other than the special ointment we give you.

In fact, you should also avoid getting the area wet, including water and sweat. This helps keep the treatment area healing correctly. While you may feel the urge to touch or pick at the healing area, you must resist the temptation. If you do touch the area, it could cause the pigment to come off prematurely. Follow all your post-treatment directions to maintain the best results possible.

Who Is a Suitable Candidate?

As long as you’re a healthy adult aged 18 or over, you are a suitable candidate for this treatment. If you have any type of skin sensitivity, serious medical conditions like diabetes, shingles, skin cancer, or hemophilia, you may not be a suitable candidate. Women who are pregnant or nursing also can’t receive this treatment.

However, when you meet with us for your initial consultation, we’ll discuss your general medical history and determine if you’re a suitable candidate. Then, we will create a treatment plan for you and determine the best shape, color, and position of your new, fuller, and more beautiful brows. This treatment is the best way to enhance the natural beauty of your face and give you the brows you’ve always wanted.
