When it comes to skincare, cleansing is the first and most essential step in any skin care routine. A good facial cleanser not only removes dirt, oil, and makeup but it also helps to balance your skin’s natural oils and prepare it for the next steps in your skin care regimen. Choosing the right cleanser can seem overwhelming, but we are here to help. In this blog I am going to break down the five different cleansers we carry at Nicole Norris MD Medical Spa and how to pick the perfect one for your skin type. Choosing the correct cleanser is crucial for achieving a glowing, healthy complexion. Whether you have dry, oily, sensitive, aging or acneic skin, there is a cleanser out there for you, and we are here to help you find it!

Facial Wash

This foaming cleanser is Esthetician Amanda’s favorite. Amanda loves facial wash because it foams up and makes her skin feel clean, while not drying her out. The PCA facial wash is good for normal, combination and sensitive Skin. It is a gentle cleanser with the goal of removing dirt, oil and makeup, all while hydrating and smoothing your skin. Here are some key points about the facial wash:

· It hydrates and exfoliates the skin while cleansing.

· It provides the skin with soothing properties.

· It does not leave skin tight or dry after cleansing.

Creamy Cleanser

This gentle, hydrating cleanser effectively removes dirt, debris and makeup without stripping the skin of necessary moisture. Creamy cleasner is great for dry, sensitive skin. This is a favorite of Esthetician Sierra’s and our Head of Patient Experience Coordinator, Danielle. This cleanser does not foam up while using it so if you love a foaming cleanser this is not the one for you. Often people with dry, sensitive skin need a gel cleanser and should not use a foaming cleanser. We also recommend this cleanser to patients struggling with inflamed acne who are already using active ingredients topically to treat their acne and/or oral medications. Creamy cleanser is one of our best sellers and here are key points about this popular cleanser:

· Its beneficial oils leave skin smoother and firmer.

· This creamy, soothing cleanser leaves skin soft and not tight.

· Users can expect radiant, younger-looking skin with consistent use.

Daily Cleansing Oil

Daily cleansing oil is another very popular cleanser. Dr. Norris loves this cleanser and uses it daily, except on Sundays when she gives her skin an extra exfoliation with PCA’s Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser. This cleaner can be used as a great way to remove makeup or as a cleanser itself. After applying, dip your fingers under water to massage the oil into your skin, rinse and dry. It will gently dissolve makeup, oil, and other impurities and is good for all skin types. Some key points about daily cleansing oil are:

· It dissolves dirt, oil, and debris, including full-face makeup.

· It is suitable for all skin types, including oily skin, and has all natural ingredients.

· It leaves the skin feeling hydrated and soft.

BPO 5% Cleanser

This powerful 5% liquid benzoyl peroxide daily cleanser eliminates existing acne and prevents future acne breakouts. Nurse Practitioner Ania loves to alternate between this cleanser and the creamy cleanser. Esthetician Kelsey favors this cleanser because it keeps her oily skin in check, black heads at bay and her skin feeling squeaky clean! This cleanser is great for oily skin and acneic skin. Some key benefits include:

· Instant antibacterial and exfoliation benefits.

· A host of botanical extracts calm and soothe acneic skin.

Daily Exfoliant

Daily exfoliant is great for dry, oily, combination, and normal skin. We do not recommend this cleanser for patients with active acne. Esthetician Kendra loves to use this cleanser as her second step in her double cleansing process, the first step being the daily cleansing oil to remove her makeup. This cleanser has a light gritty texture that will gently polish away dead skin cells to reveal radiant, younger-looking skin. Since this is a moisturizing exfoliant it is safe to use daily. Some key benefits of this one-of-a-kind cleanser include:

· It is a light, gentle exfoliant that is suitable for all skin types.

· It removes dirt, debris, and impurities from the skin.

· It contains 100% biodegradable and renewable exfoliants.

Remember, consistency is key. Making cleansing a regular part of your skin care routine will help you achieve the results you want.
