Dermal Fillers

How Does It Work?

Dermal fillers are soft, gel-like substances that are injected underneath the skin. Fillers are composed of different compounds, most commonly hyaluronic acid. Boosting the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid helps to add volume to the skin, diminishes the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and creates a softer appearance of the treated area. You see an improvement the day of your procedure, but the best result is seen 2-4 weeks post-procedure.

Fillers, depending on the area treated, can help add volume to sagging skin, make your facial features more symmetrical, plump the lips and cheeks, smooth the under eye area, and/or smooth lines and wrinkles. Most dermal fillers last an average of a year. In our office, we have multiple methods of making the treatment as tolerable as possible and fillers have minimal downtime.

Fillers are appropriate if you have fine lines and wrinkles and desire a more youthful appearance. Patients with a history of severe allergies or anaphylaxis, bleeding disorders, or hypersensitivity to any compounds in the filler are not recommended candidates for dermal fillers, as well as patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Please notify your provider of any of these conditions.
